The Slab Room is run by Apex Grading Company (“we”). Contact: hello@apexgradingcompany.com.
What we keep
Your email and password (to sign you in), your username, display name, bio, photos and posts, who you follow, likes, reposts and votes, reports you make, the date of birth you enter when joining, and a record that your 18+ check passed — never shown to anyone.
Why
To run the community, keep it safe, and meet our legal duties, including the UK Online Safety Act. Your posts, profile, likes and follows are public. Your email and date of birth are not.
Age check
Every new member proves they’re 18 or over once, with a photo of their ID and a selfie, through Stripe Identity. Stripe checks the documents; we read only whether you’re 18+, record that the check passed, and then ask Stripe to delete the personal details from the check. We never see or keep your ID, photo or date of birth from it.
Safety screening
Posts and photos are checked automatically by an AI service (Anthropic) to catch scams, abuse and other rule-breaking before they appear. Moderators at Apex can see held and reported content.
Who else handles it
Supabase (database and photo storage, London), Vercel (website hosting), Stripe (age checks) and Anthropic (safety screening) process data for us under contract. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
Waiting list
If you join the waiting list we keep your email only to send you an invite. If you also tick the box for Apex Grading news, we add you to our marketing list — you can unsubscribe from any email.
Marketing
We won’t send you marketing emails unless you separately agree, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
How long
While your account is open. Deleted posts and moderation records may be kept for up to 12 months for safety and legal reasons.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing hello@apexgradingcompany.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
