by Apex GradingTerms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Apex Grading Company (“we”, “us”), 18 Glen St, Barrhead, Glasgow G78 1QA, for using The Slab Room. Please read them with the community rules and privacy notice, which are part of these terms. Last updated 2 November 2026.
1. Who can join
You must be 18 or over and live somewhere you’re allowed to use the service. While we’re in beta you need an invite code. Before you can post, you must pass a one-off age check with Stripe Identity using your own ID document and a live selfie. One account per person, in your own name and details. Keep your password private — you’re responsible for what happens on your account.
2. The community rules
You agree to follow the community rules. In short: keep it about cards, be decent, no scams or selling, real photos only, keep personal details private, nothing sexual, violent or illegal, and no spam or fake accounts.
3. Your posts and photos
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, show and share it on The Slab Room (including in feeds, search and notifications) for as long as it’s on the service. When you delete a post we stop showing it, but copies may remain where others quoted it, and we may keep records for up to 12 months for safety and legal reasons. Only post photos and words you have the right to share.
4. How we keep the community safe
Every post and photo is checked automatically by an AI safety service before it appears; anything that looks like it breaks the rules or the law is held for a moderator. Members can report any post or profile, and block or mute other members. Our moderators may remove or hide content, warn you, limit your account, suspend it or close it if you break these terms, the rules or the law, or if we need to protect members or comply with the law. Every moderation decision is recorded. We report serious illegal content to the police and the relevant authorities.
5. Complaints and appeals
To report a post or member, use the Report button. For anything else — a complaint about content or how we run the service, an appeal against a removed post, warning or ban, or a legal notice (for example defamation, copyright or privacy) — email hello@apexgradingcompany.com with “Complaint”, “Appeal” or “Legal notice” in the subject and your username. We aim to review reports within 48 hours, to acknowledge complaints within 2 working days and to give you an outcome within 10 working days. Appeals are looked at afresh against the rules, and we’ll explain our decision. Content reported as unlawful may be hidden while we look into it.
6. No buying or selling
The Slab Room is for talking about cards, not trading them. Don’t offer, buy, sell or swap cards or anything else here, and never pay someone you met here outside a protected payment method. We’re not part of any deal between members and aren’t responsible for it. An Apex cert badge shows the grade Apex recorded for that card; it isn’t a valuation or a guarantee about any deal.
7. Opinions, grades and guesses
Posts are members’ own views, not ours. Guess the grade is for fun; community guesses aren’t official grades or valuations. Only a grade issued by a grading company counts as a grade.
8. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing us from the address you joined with. We may suspend or close accounts as set out in section 4, or close the service with reasonable notice. If we close your account you can appeal as in section 5.
9. Our responsibility to you
The Slab Room is free to use and provided as it is; we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We’re not responsible for what members post or for deals between members. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We’ll show the date at the top, and tell members about important changes by email or a notice on the site before they apply. If you keep using The Slab Room after a change, the new terms apply.
11. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
